The Department of Mathematics came into existence in 2015. The department offers undergraduate programme affiliated to Bharathidasan University. The department regularly revises the curriculum by considering UGC curriculum and feedback of students, faculty & Board of studies. Collaboration with KSOM (An Autonomous Mathematics Research Institute under NBHM & Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE)) has been sought to ensure high quality research.

A well equipped Computer Lab with software packages like MATLAB, LaTeX, Maple, Mathematica and high speed internet connectivity help the students to update their knowledge and to get a clear picture of the subject taught in the classroom. For effective teaching the modern teaching aids such as Laptop, Projector, smart board, etc are used. Faculty members often use Power Point presentations for their lectures. The Department has a tutorial pattern where the tutors give necessary advice to their wards.

Department of Mathematics has always been maintaining commendable results in the university exams and most of our students progress into higher education and/or employment. Series of lectures of eminent personalities from international universities have been facilitating to enrich the knowledge in subjects and to develop research attitude in students from rural area. The Department identifies the weaker students and conducts remedial classes for them. Special attention has been giving to both slow learners and advanced learners in order to increase the academic standard of the department. The department conducts short duration courses to B.A., B.Sc., BCA, B.Com. students to face competitive exams such as Bank PO, Railway, TNPSC & UPSC examinations.

To update the knowledge in respective area of research, the department has been organizing various national and international level seminars, workshops and conferences.  The department is deeply involved in research and shares the knowledge and transfers it to the academic and industrial sectors through publications, lectures, collaborations, consultations etc.

The greatest strength of the Department is a team of enthusiastic students and dedicated teachers. The faculties participate in regular intervals in various academic development activities organized by reputed institutions in India and abroad. Gauss Mathematical Association in the college co-ordinates the co-curricular, extra-curricular and extension activities of the department and it caters to the student’s interests in Mathematics beyond the syllabus.

Arrangements are made to avail scholarships for students from various agencies and  achievers in academic excellence has been honored every year. The Department also has well furnished classrooms with smart boards and staff rooms. Wi-fi facility is made available to all staff and students. Each faculty member has a fully furnished with separate office with computer and internet facilities to concentrate on their studies and to mobilize their research activities. The students and staff are also supplied with sufficient furniture.

A very strong Alumni Association stands testimony to the strength of the bond between the department and its students.  The department successfully keeps up with the high-end requirements of Industry and focuses on the professional development of its students.
