Mathematics has traditionally been perceived as difficult. The primary reason for this state of mathematics learning today is the significant gap between content and pedagogy. In order to bridge this gap it is imperative to bring about a change in the way mathematics is taught.
As part of the commitment of the Department of Mathematics to give not only the best but solid and substantial research knowledge for our students, the department has conducted national conference that focus on gaining knowledge, presenting research results and staying current in the field, getting new and innovative ideas, self-reflection and re-thinking of previous methods. The Second National Conference on Problem Solving Techniques in Algebra and Analysis was organized by the Gauss Mathematical Association on 7th April 2022 at Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Conference Hall. The conference deliberated on various problem solving techniques related to Algebra and Analysis. Approximately 150 students, 20 scholars and 15 faculty members from various colleges in and around Tamil Nadu attended the conference.
The resource person Dr. N. Annamalai, M.Sc., M. Phil, Ph. D, Guest Faculty of Mathematics, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur was from eminent mathematics backgrounds and represented highly esteemed institutes of the country. In the first technical session resource person explained various techniques in solving problems in Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra and Real Analysis in a simplest way. After attending this session, all the participants gained knowledge in solving problems using abstract concepts in theorems and lemmas and enhanced their problem solving ability.
In the second technical session prospective authors were encouraged to contribute and to shape the conference through submissions of their research abstracts, research articles and survey articles. Also, high quality research contributions describing original and unpublished results of conceptual, constructive, empirical, experimental, or theoretical work in all areas of Mathematics and its applications presented at the conference.
The last session was the valedictory session. Some of the participants expressed their experiences on the conference. Certificates were distributed to all delegates and participants. All the dignitaries, participants and all other helping hands, which contributed towards the success of the event were thanked. The conference ended with the successfully.
